A site-specific installation made for the gallery space of Factory 49 Paris, Inside a Painting, Gently is a 4-colour immersive work, accompanied by 10 small wall paintings in similar colours.

Re-interpreting traditional painting materials, the gallery space is used as the support or ‘canvas’ for the translucent coloured films which stretch diagonally across the space. These films become the ‘paint’.

The viewer, invited to walk in amongst the colours, is simultaneously ‘inside’ the gallery painting, and outside the wall paintings, creating a double spatial relationship with the work as a whole.

Illusory pictorial space is made real with material, colour and geometry.
